cheredynmartinWhat a treat running into these two after their performance opening for King Sunny Ade....Afro-Hi legend, Orlando Julius Ekemode + Latoya Aduke Ekemode. Spent time talking about how Mama Adunni and OJ had met in Ibadan when Mama first moved to Nigeria with her then husband in the late 1950s. So when she decided to stay and later moved to Ede and then Osogbo, Mama called him and his high life band to play for the Orisas inside the groves. They performed highlife but with lyrics praising Osun in front of the Ogboni temple. You can see part of that performance here:

Latoya his wife is from Chicago and has been living in Nigeria for 18 years. She sings and dances, and is a fireball on stage! They still tour the world together💛
