First Lady Michelle Obama: 'I'm Not A Believer In Facebook For Young People'

When it comes to their daughters, Barack and Michelle Obama are not fans of Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
The President and First Lady shared their thoughts on social media during a sit-down interview with Barbara Walters on ABC's "20/20." While eldest daughter Malia has limited access to Facebook, Mrs. Obama said the social network is out of the question for their youngest daughter, 12-year-old Sasha.

"I still am not a big believer in Facebook for young people … particularly for them, because they're in the public eye," she said. "Some of it's stuff they don't need to see and be a part of … So we try to protect them from too much of the public voice."
Even though they can't tweet or post pictures on anybody's wall, the Obamas said their girls try to live a normal life. For example, 15-year-old Malia is allowed to date now — even though the Mr. and Mrs. Obama said she's not seeing anyone right now.
"You know, we think about not just her life here, but her life after,' the FLOTUS said. "Because she's gotta be an independent, strong, smart, capable woman in the world. So she has to get her training now."
She added that the teenager "can't wait until this light has dimmed to start becoming a person."
